About Joann & Her Massage Practice

At the age of 25, I was diagnosed with Type I diabetes.

This condition continually heightens my awareness of what it means to live a healthy life. Because of my diabetes, I have to monitor my blood sugars which means prioritizing my eating, exercise and all the time in between. My body is extremely sensitive to how well things are going (or not). Through this experience I have become an empathetic fellow voyager on the ups and downs of staying well throughout life’s stresses.

Having this framework embedded within me because of its chronic condition, I feel real responsibility to honor the motivation of moving towards health in those that walk through my door wherever they are at along this journey.

I am also an artist and have been since I was very young. My love of creating with my hands led me to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and a Master of Art Education at Rochester Institute of Technology. My massage training was at the Finger Lakes School of Massage in Ithaca, NY. I am licensed in New York state, which requires the most hours for licensed massage therapists in the United States.  I am also trained in the Rolf Method of Structural Integration which I use to inform my deep tissue work.

Okay! Enough about me! Come in and see if my skills and focus encourage your body to find a better sense of wellness and equilibrium!

"Joann is intense and focused in her work, healing in her touch, and a delightful person to be around.  I highly, highly recommend her." -Sabrina B. Fadial
